Social video is part of the evolution of the digital media landscape. Evoking emotion is one factor that often makes a social video journey around the web, as do social videos with strong characters and/or strong storylines.
The opening visuals, text overlays and music are crucial to attracting people’s attention as they scroll — especially when you consider the huge percentage of people who read rather than watch videos posted to social media.
For this exercise, participants in the “Disrupt the News” workshop at Zagreb University created social videos using Adobe Spark and Premiere. It’s not unusual for social videos to address weighty topics but they also offer a way to engage audiences with the lighter side of the news.
